Boots

Last week, Lowell and I were having a pleasant evening with cousin Erin when Lowell said, "You look like Dora's best friend Boots!"

For those of you unfamiliar with the cartoon Dora, Boots is indeed a monkey.

At least it was just my slippers that gave him that impression...not my face or the fact that I look like a cartoon.

Three is a Magic Number!

On Sunday, Lowell did his THIRD triathlon of the month! The sun managed to squeak through the clouds at the very end of the race, but at least the rain held off. As a picture-taking spectator, my hands were numb, but otherwise the weather was tolerable I suppose.

So, let's get started with the triathlon shall we? And by the way, it's SO much more fun watching a triathlon & taking pictures when you have a camera that a) takes pictures quickly, b) is ready to take another one right away, c) has amazing zoom, d) has burst mode and other desirable features, and e) doesn't suck.

Waiting to start the 1km swim:

And he's off!

I think that this is my favourite picture of the day. I was so proud of myself for getting a picture when he was facing me. Again, thanks to our beautiful new camera!

Done the swim; getting ready for the bike! (Doesn't he look goooooood? He's such a flippin attractive boy!)

Here he goes on the 25km bike!

Aw, he's always smiling!

Lowell's turning the corner to start another loop of the bike. This is what it looked like outside through his sunny glasses. Keeps one optimistic I guess:

And here he is coming back from the 8km run!

Here's my triathlon superstar!!

YEAY FOR LOWELL!!!

Some technical facts:
Finish time: 1 hour 59 minutes 10 seconds
Age Group place: 9th of 19
Total racers: 293

CoolPix

We have had a spectacular long weekend thus far. Other than some rain/wind today, the weather has been gorgeous. Lowell and I have run, biked, walked, rollerbladed, skipped, played, went to the outdoor market, hung out with friends etc in the bright and beautiful sunshine.

We also ran a bunch of errands and added a new piece of technology to the ol' techy collection: a rockin awesome new camera! Much overdue if I do say so myself.

Lowell and I have thoroughly enjoyed snapping pictures then playing with them on the computer. Here's Edmonton et moi through the lens of our new camera (in no particular order)!

Star Studded Week

Lowell's half birthday (May 13th) was celebrated in style. We (Carlynne, Michelle (Dan's sis), Lowell and I) went to David Beckham's soccer game!! LA Galaxy was in Edmonton to play against the Vancouver Whitecaps. Am I the type of soccer fan that would purchase tickets to a game like this for the sole purpose of being in the same stadium as a celebrity such as David Beckham? No. Well, actually, that's a lie. I totally am.

The Whitecaps beat Galaxy 2-1. I was happy to see the Canadian team win, but I was also a little disappointed for David.

In the following picture, David is the dark player between the linesman and the white player near the front of the picture. The zoom on my camera is not its most impressive feature.
OOOOooo, here he is!
So that was on Tuesday night, and on Wednesday night my parents went to Anne Murray's concert. I'm guessing that the crowd at Anne's concert was a little more classy than our crowd. We had some rowdies behind us who were somewhat amusing at first, but once the alcohol started kicking in, they just got irritating. Anyhoo, Mom and Dad really enjoyed their classy evening:

So to sum up our celebrity sightings for the week:

DAVID BECKHAM &

ANNE MURRAY

Posh wasn't at the game, but I heard rumours that Mel C (aka Sporty Spice) might've been there as she was in Edmonton to do a concert the next night. I didn't see her, but we can pretend!

Mother's Day Triathlon

On Friday, Lowell and I headed to Carstairs for the great Mother’s Day BBQ that Marti threw for her Mom and our shared Mother-in-law (Lowell’s Mama). It was super duper fun, but unfortunately there are no photos to document the occasion.

After the BBQ, we headed further south to Lethbridge and arrived close to 1am. After a good night’s rest, we kicked around the house for a bit, then took our friend Florence out for a Mother’s Day lunch. Again, we don’t have any pictures of this, but I’ll slap up an old picture of Florence and I just so you can see this adorable woman that we love so much.

Lowell’s parents met us in Lethbridge on Saturday evening. We had a nice supper together (all of our parents and us), then had tea while chatting. Aaron and Megan popped over to join the fun.

On Sunday I was up bright and early to prepare 2 shifts of Mother’s Day brekky. Mom and Lowell had to be at the University for their triathlon between 7:30 and 8, and Jen (a friend that had been staying over for a couple of days) planned to leave for the airport by 7. So, breakfast shift 1 at 6:45am.

8am was time for shift 2.

By 9am, we headed to the University to catch the triathlon action.

Lowell's pre-triathlon good luck kiss:

Lowell's getting ready to ride! And off he goes! And here Lowell is approaching the finish line. Woohoo! While on the bike, Lowell's chain came off. Fixing it took time, so to make up for it, he went super fast along the rain-soaked road. He took a corner a little too fast and completely bit it. Ouchies!! Here's a small glimpse of his road rash:
Now it's Mom's turn. She's in the aqua bathing suit getting ready for the swim:After a successful swim, Mom is heading off on the bike:She's back from the bike!Grabbin a quick swig of water before the run...
I ran the last stretch with my Mom:And here she is going through the finish chute. GO MOM!After the race, we enjoyed some delectable goodies courtesy of the Penny Coffee House:
Here are the 2 champs. They both got second place in their categories. WICKED!
Some more post-triathlon photos:
We had an excellent Mother's Day weekend. Between Lowell and I, we have 13 siblings (including their significant others), and we had all 4 parents all to ourselves. Good times!

Congratulations Mom & Lowell for excellent triathlon finishes!!!!
