week 19 - sunglasses

Week 19 and our little fetus child is about 6 inches long... the length of Lowell's sunglasses which I am sporting in the above picture. How convenient given that we just spent the past week in Hawaii. That's right... HAWAII!! WITH THE WHOLE FAMILY!!!

Side note: I didn't even wear a bikini in my pregnant-with-Fraser-pre-stretch-mark state in the SUMMER. This time around, however... Lowell won. And I thought what the heck. This is my favourite stage of pregnancy, I may as well fully embrace it. So not only is this a first for me, but it's now also on the WORLD WIDE WEB. Whoa. Big things happening in the world of Julie.

Lowell, Fraser and I were the first to arrive in Kauai, so we were given the task of doing the grocery shopping for everyone for the entire week (and then some). Each family pre-planned meals and everyone sent the necessary ingredients to us (in addition to bringing things from home). We ate very well... fish tacos, pizza fondue, poutine, salmon burgers, Mexican Fiesta, chicken coconut curry, Thanksgiving dinner, nachos and cheese galore... all homemade! 3 grocery stores, 5 hours, and a jam-packed car-full later, we were on our way to the resort!

Here's just a teeny tiny glimpse of the awesomeness that is my family in Hawaii.

LOVE my family!!

Twinsies...

A couple weeks ago, Fraser did this crazy squinty-eyed smile at breakfast and I could not stop laughing. It was effectively reinforced and now it's totally his thing... ESPECIALLY when Auntie Kylie is around (who laughs uncontrollably when he pulls the face). And he doesn't just crack a tiny smile.... he holds the squinty eyes AND the smile while giving everyone present a turn at direct eye contact. What a goof....

My family thinks he got this face from me (?!), and evidently he also started crossing his toes like me. I guess I should really start watching myself around him.... wouldn't want ALL my bad habits to rub off on him!

Okay, there's a normal smile...

And, of course, a big grin from the eldest and wisest cousin, Ty...

Let's not forget Zekey!

Ty & Fraser play well together although we DO have to keep a close eye on that Tyrn boy. He's not used to kids that can stand/walk but aren't as sturdy as him, so Fraser tends to get tossed around a bit. All in good fun, all in good fun.

Look, I'm sharing nicely with my little cousin, Fraser...

PSYCH! No I'm not...

haha :)

Much like Ty's antics around Fraser need to be supervised (although Fraser ended up developing a system of bracing himself for Ty's hits or quickly "falling" before Ty had a chance to push him), we had to keep an eye on Fraser around Zekey. He WAS surprisingly gentle most of the time, but if left unattended, he'd probably attempt the Heimlech sans permission one too many times...

And now... DA BEACH!
I DARE you to try and nap, Auntie Carlynne...

I have probably the most super cool Dad on the planet. I think this picture pretty much speaks for itself...

I also have a hot mama!

Preggo mama with Fraser man...

I think that's Carlynne under there...

Here, let me adjust that hat (and sort of pull it off) for you, Fraser...

Mmmmm..... tasty salty sea water....

These children are very athletic. And at such a young age!

You can see where Ty gets his athleticism...

Ty also joined Marc for some boogie boarding. Adorbz!

There was nearly as much sand on Fraser's face as on the beach, and even more in his diaper...

In the following case, the sandy face situation was the result of a little bit of a body check from big cousin, Ty...

And Ty looks soooooo sorry...

Zekey baby also got a face full of sand, but it was because he felt the need to show off his mad rolling skills in the sand. hehe...

Before heading into days of beaching, I insisted to Lowell that I needed some reading material. He asked what kind, and I was like, "You know, fashion magazines and stuff..." and Kylie chimed in, "You mean smutty trash?" Yes, yes I do. Is there any other more desirable beach reading material?

Too cool for school dude...

Giggles with Nana...

All tuckered after a day of beachin...

Our trip just happened to coincide with American Thanksgiving and BLACK FRIDAY... what a pleasant coinkidink. Mom prepped a delicious Thanksgiving dinner with all the fixings, and we listened to Ty's excellent Thanksgiving prayer. He looked around and thanked Jesus for everything in sight- including the juice box, the pool, 'Auntie Dan' and 'Auntie Lowell'. Classic!

The next day we hit up some Black Friday sales. To be fair, this was our collective haul and not JUST Carlynne's...

Whilst the woman folk (plus Dad) were experiencing the Black Friday craziness (which wasn't nearly as intense as we were anticipating here in Kauai), Lowell took Fraser for a run. They (well, Fraser had a nap in the stroller) ran around the resorts and ended up at the super plush St. Regis Princeville Resort. The bellman asked Lowell if he wanted a drink, then while the sweaty blind guy with a baby was stumbling around trying to find the elevator to the beach at the bottom of the cliffs that the resort is terraced upon, the head butler asked if he could help Lowell and ended up taking him personally to the beach through the multiple elevators. Being handsome and toting around a cute baby has it's perks!

Fun with Auntie Shareen...

We took a little trip to Bubba's Burgers which is apparently quite a popular stop for celebrities. Actually, this whole island is reportedly a celebrity hot spot and I REALLY have not been doing my proper observation duties. Like, Bethany Hamilton (one armed pro surfer girl) GREW UP here. I really need to pull my observational pants up!

Lowell, Fraser and I took a little family trip to the Waimea Canyon... the Grand Canyon of the Pacific...

Oh golly. There are even MORE pictures and fun, but I think that was overwhelming enough for now.

Aloha!
