We like houses.

Lack of action on this blog has not been due to a shortage of activity/excitement in our lives. There have been two major things sucking up all our time (besides work).

1. The Olympics. Enough said.

2. WE BOUGHT A NEW HOUSE!!!!!

This new house just happens to be directly across the street from our old house, but it's bigger... and BETTER.

So far, we've painted most of the upstairs, moved our STUFF in, and applied for a permit so we can install a kitchen in the basement and create a fully legal rental suite.

Here's our new home from the outside. My groom is oh-so-romatically-and-not-at-all-awkwardly carrying me across the threshold...

Here's the back (these pictures were taken in the awkward half-snow-half-grass-it's-almost-spring stage)...

Allow me to take you through a bit of the process thus far. Please note: some rooms have stuff in them already, but none- I repeat: NONE- of these rooms are finished. I'm waiting for my interior-decorator-pro-star sister Carlynne to help. Her and my Mom together are an interior decorating force to be reckoned with!

Front entry...

Kitchen...

Dining room...

Living room before...

(That mirror is SO HUGE. We donated it to a FITNESS CENTRE for crying out loud.)

Living room DURING...

(Thanks to Julie & Mandy for their help!!)

Living room after the walls were painted...

So far, the fireplace is just primed but oh boy is it gonna look goooood!

Hallway (the only area left to paint!)...

Bathroom...

Master bedroom before...

Master bedroom after...

Guest/future baby room looked pretty much identical to the 'master bedroom before', so let's move right along to the 'during'.

Guest/future baby room DURING (this was the FIRST ROOM that we painted hence the ceremonial photos)...

Guest/future baby room after...

There's also an office which is eerily similar to the bedrooms in shape, and the dining room in colour.

NOW TO THE BASEMENT!

It's big, open, spacious, and BRIGHT!

This 70s bar will be ripped out, and this is where the kitchen will go (and extend into the carpet which will be partly replaced with lino)...

And now from another angle...

This is the 'living area'...

(...and it keeps going around that left corner!)

It has two bedrooms, and a super cutesie cute bathroom...

The laundry area is super humungo huge and will eventually be shared with our future tenants...

The boiler is also about 400 thousand years old (and still going strong!)... and notice the laundry chute behind it!...

And that, folks, is our brand new (to us) home. A big ol thank you to Mr. B- the best (and tallest!) Realtor in North America.

We love love LOVE it and look forward to the next step with our new family-friendly home... a PUPPY!

Awesome home! The house is very beautiful before and you both have made it amazing after painting the wall and the color is also very cool. I love it very much and everyone likes it because it is the most beautiful and perfect home.

I reckon we need a Realtor sell-off. I think ours might give yours a run.. (not to steal your thunder).

Congrats you two! I was wondering where you went (blogging wise). :)
I love how spacious the home is, something I will look for when it's time. Love open floorplans, and the hardwood looks great!

thank goodness for the hardwood (puppy-wise...much more convenient for cleaning up the pee!), and everything looks great. I can't wait to come see it in person.

Beautiful. I am so jealous of people who get to live in houses and there you go owning two of them! How about you buy one in Fernie and rent it to the absolute best tenants in the whole wide world. That would be us. Temple X 2.

Love Alisha

P.S. my word verification - primed - how perfect is that!
