For our first full day in Chiang Mai we enrolled in a cooking class.
To kick off the class, our teacher (who was so adorable and small that I wanted to keep her in my purse) gave us a tour of a local food market.
We then headed to the Chiang Mai Thai Cookery School, slipped into our aprons and COOKED!
Throughout the day, we were taught how to make six Thai dishes. Before attempting each dish ourselves, we assembled in the little classroom and watched the pros at work.
The mirror above the chef's cooking station allowed us to see what was on the counter. It also allowed us to see ourselves (in the keener front row at least)...
The following man is Sompn Nabnian. He's a international TV chef who owns and runs the cooking school. All of our instructors had great senses of humour, and he was no exception!
And now for some of the yummy dishes...
Our adorable instructor (above) is posing with the steamed banana cakes in banana leaf bowls that we inhaled for dessert.
After eating the six courses we were SO FULL, and I nearly maxed my lifetime Thai food intake quota. But I'm sure I can find a way to squeeze some more in...

Yum!! What dishes did you make? What were they called? That must've been so fun!

Very cool idea. I'll have to remember that.... if I ever get there.
Yummmm!
I love how you wanna put everybody in your pocket. First the little boy, then the chef girl...this could be a disease. Kidnapitis!
