Our 'little' basement reno project has FINALLY come to an end. It took a LOT more time and money (and sweat and tears) than originally anticipated, but we're super happy with the final product. We're also thrilled with our new tenants: Danielle & Brittany. I went to high school with Danielle, and she and Brittany are both nurses. Beautiful, kind (as well as clean, organized, & responsible I'm sure) nurses.
I'll just jog your memory as to what the place looked like PRIOR to us digging our nails in...
Remember how this was a simple slap-in-a-kitchen-and-call-it-a-suite project gone wrong? Click here for a little reminder.
After the demo, we began to rebuild. First the new framing went up (and electrical and plumbing were re-jigged)...
Then the insulation went in...
We even did spray foam (plus extra insulation) in the ceiling for sound proofing purposes...
Then up went the drywall...
And finally my job came in... PAINTING (in my hot outfit)...
And here's the kitchen ready to be installed...
Then the rest of the painting was done and flooring, countertops, lights/fixtures, and trim went in and VOILA. Are you ready for this? Here comes the FINAL PRODUCT. Soak it up, folks... soak it up.
Kitchen...
Dining room/living room...
Corner of living room with hallway/bedroom entrance...
Cute hallway situation...
Danielle's room...
Brittany's room...
Bathroom....
The end... WHAT A RELIEF! Now all the tradespeople in Lethbridge need to find more work because we're done being their sole employers!
A special thanks to our GREAT family and friends who helped us along at various stages. We're especially grateful for my parents and our Fernie parents (Brian & Candy) for the ridiculous amount of help they were every single step of the way. SO SELFLESS AND WONDERFUL!
Now maybe one of these days we'll finish decorating the upstairs (where WE live) and we can show IT off too...

wow! it looks AWESOME! what a transformation!
it looks so beautiful you guys...congratulations on a job well done. I can't wait to see it all in person in just a few weeks!
Looks great!
I think instead of renovating your own home (cause living in renos sucks) You should buy a Fernie home and renovate it and then we can be your lovely (well, I'll be your lovely and Tyler will be your mulleted) renters. Your place looks way better than our apartment! Congrats on finally finishing!
