BRAD & KENDRA GOT MARRIED!

Kendra and Brad got married on April 14th, and that meant two things:

1. A lifetime of happiness for the two lovebirds, and….
2. A ROAD TRIP TO REGINA!!!

Lyndsay and Christie went together from Edmonton, and Ann-Marie (aka AMS) and I drove together from Lethbridge.

Christie & Lynds

Ann-Marie and I’s trip was uber eventful. It should be noted that there is diddly SQUAT between Medicine Hat and Swift Current, so we may or may not have gone to the bathroom on the side of the road/ behind an abandoned ice cream shop… twice. That astronaut lady was onto something when she traveled with diapers. We seriously considered picking some up for the way home.

Anyhoo, after getting lost a couple of times in Regina, AMS and I finally met up with Christie and Lyndsay, and what a happy reunion it was. We stayed up for a few hours just being girls (i.e. chatting and giggling and just being dorks in general).

Then Saturday came and it was time for KENNY TO GET MARRIED!

When we arrived at the church, we just had to take our picture with this sign.

L to R: AMS, me, Christie, Julie W

Then as we were walking back into the church we had our first sighting of BRAD (the handsome groom). We ran to him and forced him to take pictures with us. I’m pretty sure he was freaked right out, but our excitement could not be contained. Sorry Bradley.

At the guestbook table, there was a picture of Brad and Kendra, so AMS and I got our first picture with them on their wedding day. Yeay us!

And the time for the wedding came. We all had knots in our stomachs as we were waiting for Kendra to walk down the aisle. I swear I was more nervous than she was. As she finally made her way down the aisle, we all had tears in our eyes (sappy I know). But it was so emotional. Kendra was getting married! Yeesh.

The beeeeautiful bride and her papa.

Kendra looked gorgeous, the ceremony was beautiful, and the reception was also lovely. Us girls performed a rap that AMS and I wrote on the way there. It was quite a hit if I do say so myself.

L to R: Lynds, Julie W, AMS, Christie, me

Then we continued to be the goofy giggly girls that we definitely proved to be that weekend.

Mmmmm... cupcakes.

Tirds forever (except Nancy's missing)!

Congratulations Brad & Kendra.
Can't wait to see you in July!!

My New Calling

Today I discovered my new calling in life. Speech Pathology? Nope. Laying sod!

I admit my initial hesitation to partake in such a chore (on a Saturday no less), but a chore it was not. A pleasure it was indeed. It was so fun! It's like putting together a big giant puzzle and it was soooo satisfying (PS it helps to do it with fun people).

We forgot to take a "before" picture, but use your imagination and visualize the same picture only without the grass.

Dave R and I made a great team. Our section of the yard turned out the best by far (in my humble opinion)

Megan and Mom workin on their section (and Dave K and Stephanie in the background). They did O.K. ;)
Dad was the sod transporter and photographer!

Dave K, Stephanie, and I doing some finishing touches.

Dave R and Megan rolling around on the new lawn. WAHOO!

La produit fini! (One corner of the yard anyway...)

My destiny has now been fulfilled.

High Waisted Pants

First skinny jeans (on boys no less)…now this? Doesn’t this style make ones butt look extra long? Is this a good thing? I apparently missed that memo and I refuse to hop on that fashion band wagon!!

no offense to anyone who likes or wears these.

This just in

A Claysburg, Pa., teenager has been crowned LG National Texting champion in New York after she typed on her cell phone faster than any other contestant.

Morgan Pozgar, 13, managed to thumb type two lines of the Mary Poppins song Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious [in 15 seconds] to take home the $25,000 top prize in Saturday's contest, the New York Daily News reported Sunday.

I'm going to go shopping and buy lots of clothes, the prolific texter said after besting 200 other competitors at the Roseland Ballroom.

I'm not denying that this is quite the accomplishment. I probably couldn't do it in 15 minutes. But she's 13. Shouldn't somebody give her a ball and put her outside?

This totally isn't her, but I googled her name and this is what came up, so this is what I'm posting!

*Edited to add: Here she is. I found 'er. She's cute! And not at all the giant blob I secretly expected her to be!

The Ultimate Compliment

The other day I had a facial done. I was slightly skeptical heading into it because I feared criticizing remarks being directed to my face. This skepticism was magnified when the young lady put a giant microscope with a blinding light over my face and said she was looking closer at my skin than anyone ever has. Uh oh.

Anyhoo, after examining my face closely, she told me I had great pores and people would kill for pores like mine! Aw, shucks. Li'l ol' me? Apparently my pores exist, but they’re nice and small—just the perfect size. Those of you who know me know just as well as I do that I definitely do not have perfect skin. In fact, sometimes I feel like I did when I was 14 and the only person in my entire school (or perhaps the entire world?!) going through an incredibly awkward phase. Braces, a nice little cultivated acne farm, horrendous hair…. You name it I had it.

So, not to toot my own horn here, but wow. I've got great pores. If you ever want to make someone’s day, tell them they have wonderful pores!

If I had an amazing camera and a ridiculously bright light, I would've included a picture of the said pores. Too bad for you, I have neither of those things. :)

My sister the doofus

After being at home for a little less than 2 weeks, Carlynne returned to Edmonton on Saturday. Today was the day that Mom did the laundry from her stay, and here's what was hanging out to dry:

My parents, Shareen, and Craig used one towel each. ALL THE REST were used by Carlynne. That's 9 towels. I don't even think she had 9 showers in the time she was here!

That girl remains a mystery to me... freakish strength and an uninhibited desire to use as many towels as possible. I'm sure gonna miss having this weirdo her around!

Fun with the G family

Us G's tend to be a bit of a rowdy bunch. Shareen & Craig, Carlynne, and I are all home right now, so we went out for lunch with our parents to a quaint, albeit packed, cafe. Following our lunch, I spontaneously felt the need to challenge Carlynne to an arm wrestle. This girl may be small, but she's freakishly strong. Here's our first match:

Carlynne won, so Mom stepped up to the plate to challenge the winner:

Carlynne won again, so Shareen was up next:

.....Carlynne won again. I suddenly felt a surge of power at this point and demanded a rematch. Who won this time??
ME!!! (And I don't think Carlynne's fatiguing arm had anything to do with that...)

Last night we had an even more rowdy family gathering (with Megan!). We played our family's classic favourite game: Guesstures!

The best part of this game is playing with my Dad. he goes NUTS! This is him acting with one of his less intense game faces on:

And just for the record. My *ahem* team won.

He's the man!

Who's the man you ask? Why, that would be Larry Birkhead of course.

For those of you who have lived under a rock for the past several months (or just haven't exposed yourselves to trashy, useless celebrity gossip), I'll fill you in on the "news" story that has taken over celebrity headlines for a few months now (which I think is a few months too long).

It all started when Anna Nicole Smith's son Daniel died unexpectedly. Recently it was discovered that the cause of death was a drug overdose. He got into Mama's meds. Sad.

Then Anna had a baby. She claimed the baby belonged to her partner (and lawyer) Howard K. Stern. Larry Birkhead would have none of it, and claimed his paternal contribution.

Then Anna died unexpectedly. Also of a drug overdose. The news was covering this soooo much, and I thought, 'Why is she famous again? Oh right. She was a playboy model and had a controversial marriage when she married an 89-year old and stood to inherit billions. Of course.' Well, since she died, her daughter now stands to inherit billions.

I chose one of the less completely ridiculous pictures of Anna.

Apparently Anna is no stranger to other men's beds as several came forward claiming they were the father of the baby. Larry and Howard were most insistent, but lucky for Larry, DNA test results just confirmed that he is indeed the father of baby Danielyn.

Now hopefully entertainment news can lay this story to rest. And this story (or these characters) will not grace my blog again. *tsk tsk* I hang my head in shame that I contributed to the spreading of the Anna Story. But now we can pay attention to the news that really matters... like the fact that Owen Wilson and Kate Hudson are dating! Tee hee hee :)

They came they came!!

If you recall, I won a radio contest and unexpectedly received CDs and Subway money rather than the much-anticipated PJs. While I was thrilled with my winnings, I was (not so) secretly disappointed at not receiving the PJs. You can imagine my absolute elation when a man knocked on our door (in Edmonton) last week and handed me MY PJs!! The best part is... they fit (but how could they not with my meticulous instructions...really.)

Unfortunately, I have this bad habit of not wearing new clothes for fear of prematurely wearing them out. It gets a tad ridonkulous because then they basically go out of style and I never end up wearing them. Apparently this goes for alarm clock covered jammies too. Silly I know. I think I'm gonna save them til I'm married. Lowell likes them; I think he'll be up for a little alarm clock lingerie.

Sooo, thanx John Tesh... again.

Bittersweet

Today marks the beginning of a bittersweet time in my life. After completing a year and a half of classes and half my placements for my Masters in Speech Language Pathology, I’m back home in Lethbridge to finish my placements (with the kiddies), and here I will stay until I get married. I am SO looking forward to this because it means I get to spend my time with these two:

the 'rents

In this house:

Where there is free reign over everything in here:

(I've blogged about this before, but it bears repeating)

And I can get the ol' brows waxed for FIVE BUCKS (on Tuesdays and Wednesdays) :

(Just for the record, I don't usually document such occasions)

All of which I looooooove.

Along with all this sweetness, however, there is also bitterness. I leave behind:

My Edmonton room:

(Yes, that is a real clock, and yes it is large. Giant clocks are a weakness of mine.)

Which contains my faithful plant (which has been dead since about my second week in Edmonton, but it stayed in the same corner the entire time.... and it's still there even though I'm gone!) :

In our Edmonton home:

(This picture was taken back in the day when Edmonton housing was semi affordable!)

With my sister!:

And our trusty Volvo (which may or may not be on its last legs...) :

And I'm leaving behind my second Edmonton home...Corbett Hall:

As well as proximity to MEC:

And many close friends:

These are the roomies!!

And the absolute worst part of leaving Edmonton is that I'm leaving this guy behind:

Oh how I loves my honey bunches of oats.

It is the end of an era! And the beginning of a new one. :)
